September 2019 SAA Meeting Highlights

The Statewide Administration Assembly held a regular business meeting on Thursday, September 19. Below are highlights from the meeting.

  1. SAA representatives met with VP Paul Layer and discussed issues including the September BOR meeting and the amended motion approved by the regents, the expedited programmatic review, and administrative consolidations currently underway. Staff have indicated they would appreciate more transparency from administration regarding the consolidations. 

  2. The Staff Alliance will hold its annual retreat in Anchorage on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1; SAA reps Josh Watts and Lauren Hartmen will participate. The Alliance plans to meet with President Johnsen, VP Layer, Chancellor Sandeen, Faculty Alliance Chair Maria Williams, UA Foundation President Susan Foley, and SW HR Operations Director Michelle Pope.   3. SAA representatives reviewed a proposed by the Staff Alliance regarding administrative consolidations and the need for increased participation and transparency. 

  4. Representatives are working with the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Staff Council to host a blood drive on October 24 in IARC 501. More details will be shared in the coming weeks. 

  5. SAA said goodbye to representative Laycie Schneckenburger, who is moving to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ's College of Natural Science and Mathematics. All of SAA would like to thank Laycie for her persistent engagement, thoughtful suggestions, and delightful sense of humor. We'll miss you, Laycie!
