UA Regents head to Sitka April 11-12, 2013

FAIRBANKS—The University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Board of Regents will meet at the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Sitka Campus, Thursday and Friday, April 11 to 12, 2013.

The public will have two opportunities to weigh-in on university issues during pubic testimony scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, or at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 12. The two-day meeting will take place in room 229 of the Sitka Campus.

The agenda includes several items up for consideration by the full board, including: approval of State of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Department of Transportation receipts for the Glacier Highway Improvement project; and approval of a differential tuition for the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ School of Management.

On the consent agenda, regent committees will be reviewing several items. On the docket for consideration are formal project approvals for the University of ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ Anchorage Health Campus Pedestrian Bridge; a project change request on UAA’s MAC Housing Renewal; a project change request for ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ’s Margaret Murie Life Sciences Research and Teaching Facility; adoption of a UAS Campus Master Plan; approval of a revision to Regents’ Policy 05.12.040 on Capital Project Development; and an audit department name change.

Regents will hear several presentations, reports and updates. Among them will be a presentation from representatives from the Sitka campus regarding the Fisheries Technology program and community and art learning opportunities offered at the campus; an update on university-wide Fisheries, Seafood, and Maritime Initiative (FSMI); and a report on progress for UA’s Strategic Direction Initiative. The board will also consider a resolution of appreciation for student Regent Mari Freitag, whose term expires May 2013.
