The University Fire Department will host a farewell reception from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, June 24, to thank ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ fire Chief Doug Schrage for his service and leadership at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ. Light refreshments will be offered.

Schrage has been working in the fire service since 1981, when he started working at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ as a student firefighter. He worked for the Anchorage Fire Department for 26 years, retiring as the chief operating officer.

In 2010, he returned to ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ to serve as the fire chief. He also offered his knowledge and support through various projects, serving as ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ’s emergency manager, teaching fire administration and leadership courses, and implementing community CPR classes at ÐÓ°ÉÔ­°æ.
